The TLT Group is a not-for-profit that helps college and university educators take advantage of changing technology so they can improve teaching and learning. With over ten years of experience, they’ve helped hundreds of colleges and universities use and adapt to technology in ways that support teaching and learning, value the time and experience of staff and faculty and make the most of tight budgets and resources.

What are the main features?

Other survey systems start you with a blank page. Flashlight Online is different. You can:
  • Choose from a large collection of model surveys and validated questions created by Flashlight staff.
  • Adapt surveys and item banks created by other users, including authors at other institutions.
  • Add to the power of your inquiry and subtract from survey fatigue by using matrix surveys.
  • Use a variety of question types to create your own items, including rubrics.
  • Use or administer Flashlight Online with a simple browser: no software for you or your institution to install!
  • Student course evaluation is less expensive and more flexible than alternatives.
  • Flashlight Online is great for faculty learning communities.
  • Boost response rates (e.g., by tracking who has responded, while maintaining respondent anonymity.
  • Flashlight Online is secure.
  • Display reports to respondents as soon as they complete a survey.

How do I implement it?

Special introductory rate for a limited number of individuals: $150 for a Flashlight Online 2.0 account (includes TLT Group membership if you don't already have one) and only $75 for students. After clicking , indicate whether you are a new user and, on the second screen click "Flashlight annual subscription."

What does it measure?

Flashlight Current Student Inventory (CSI) is an indexed set of almost 500 validated questions for gathering information from current enrolled students about teaching-learning practices, the use of technology to aid those practices
(e.g., e-mail to help them communicate with faculty), technology support, demographic variables, distance learning, and other related issues.
